Department of Laryngology and Voice at Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital has been
conducting ' Voicecon ', a comprehensive course for diagnosis and management of voice
and laryngeal disorders since 2002. Mr. Vasant Oswal, Emeritus Consultant ET & H&N
Surgeon, James Cook University Hospital, Middlesbrough, UK, a renowned laser surgeon
and an accomplished academician in this field has been instrumental in establishing this
course.
The 11 th course is scheduled to take place on Friday 18, Saturday 19 & Sunday 20 of November 2011.
The course aims to provide otolaryngologists and budding laryngeal surgeons a varied
exposure to state of art updates along with conventional techniques in this ever developing
field of laryngology and voice. It includes all the facets of Laryngology such as benign
lesions, laryngeal malignancy, compromised airway and swallowing disorders.
Emphasis is also given to demonstrate application of laser in Head & Neck Surgery.
The course would also cover emerging technologies such as laryngeal transplants and robotic
laryngeal surgery. Plenary talks would be given by senior academically accomplished consultants
The learning objective of plethora of topics will be accomplished by way of live surgical
demonstration, demonstration of out patient procedures, cadaveric dissection, symposia,
panel discussions and didactic lectures.
‘Demonstration of Ultrapulse CO Laser’ Lumenis and that of High Speed Camera 2
( Kay-Pantax ) would be done during the course.
This would be the first installation of these ULTRAMODERN EQUIPMENTS in INDIA. |
